“I love this library! I went to it when I was a little girl. I loved books and reading, it was so magical. Now at the age of 74, I have watched this harbor of dreams grow and change to become a modern up-to-date facility that still is a place of dreams and magic.” – Crystal S., Monroe Library customer
"They know your name! It’s free to borrow a book! Love this place!" – Rob J., Langley Library Customer
"The library is a regular monthly part of my self-care routine where I can take myself out to the peace and quiet that the library provides, browse the new arrivals then make my way to my favorite nonfiction sections. Time to myself, away from my house, and responsibilities to explore new horizons." – Atlas T., Mountlake Terrace Library customer
"Best library system I have ever been part of." – Ravi U., Mill Creek Library customer
Dear Friends —
As Sno-Isle Libraries celebrates our 60th anniversary of service to our communities, we are reminded of the generations of visionary community activists, dedicated staff, passionate volunteers, and generous library supporters who have all helped plant the seeds and grow Sno-Isle Libraries into the thriving 21st-century library system it is today.
Community support keeps our libraries strong and the Foundation plays an important role in securing additional funding to invest in innovative and inspiring programs and expand the capacity of the library to serve more people. The Foundation is committed—through supporters like you—to helping keep libraries resilient and ensure that no matter where you live in Snohomish and Island Counties, you have access to high-quality materials, phenomenal programs, and transformative library services.
The holiday season is about sharing, caring, and spreading joy. This year, we ask you to think about what the library has meant to you, your family, and your community. Help spread holiday cheer by supporting your library with a gift that is significant to you. Make your tax-deductible donation by December 31 and help us reach our year-end fundraising goal of $50,000. Donations of any size make a difference and help power our libraries.
With generous support from our community, in the past year the Foundation:
- Funded essential early-literacy programs like 3rd Graders Read Together, which engaged third graders in 99 schools from 15 school districts, and Summer Reading, which encouraged a love of reading among 5,472 youth and generated over 2.2 million minutes read!
- Supported the installation of a new roof for the Arlington Library.
- Funded half of the annual lease expenses for the Mariner and Lakewood/Smokey Point demonstration libraries.
- Enhanced the Sno-Isle Libraries collection with exciting new books and other materials.
Libraries across the country continue to face enormous challenges in funding library facilities, collections, services, and programs, and reaching and serving all members of our community, especially those who may not be aware of how the library can help them find community resources and better their lives. As library costs continue to rise, your contributions become ever more important.
“WOW... I am overwhelmed by all the resources and services that are available to me with my tiny library card I have had for many, many years...” – Diane C., Coupeville Library customer
When you give to the library, you make a gift to our entire community. Thank you for supporting our work and planting the seeds for our libraries' future growth and success over the next 60 years and beyond!
We wish you and yours a joyful holiday season and a happy and prosperous New Year!
With deep gratitude,
Christina Kourteva, Foundation Executive Director
Luke Distelhorst, Foundation Board President
